Nutella and a Big Girl Bike

I first discovered Nutella during my second trip to Europe in 2006. Put it on a crepe with some banana, and you will experience Heaven on Earth. It is some good, good stuff. I'm wholly convinced that its existence is even more solid proof that God loves me very, very much.

I enjoyed Nutella (with the banana and crepe) during our trip to Europe a couple of weeks ago. As I suspected, it did not disappoint.

I've known that they sell Nutella in the grocery stores here in the U.S., but I have resisted buying some, for fear that I'll weigh 400 pounds in short order. Well, I caved this past weekend. It was right there in front of me, across the aisle from my 80-calories-per-slice breakfast bread. So, I bought it. That was Sunday evening - 9:30 p.m.

It is now Tuesday evening - 8:00 p.m. I am ashamed to admit that I have already eaten half of the jar. So far, in addition to just digging into the jar with a knife and licking it off, I have enjoyed Nutella on the following food items: two bananas, one package of Chips Ahoy 100-calorie pack cookies, and countless slices of my breakfast bread. I'm thinking about putting it on an apple next, except I don't currently have any...so I better head to the store - STAT.

Me telling (read: confessing) about my Nutella addiction brings me to my next point for this posting: a new bike. Andy and I haven't owned bikes since we've been together (10 years in October - whoot!). Now that we live in a very suburban, very family-oriented neighborhood, with lots of trails nearby, we've decided to purchase bikes.

Andy, like me, doesn't think about things for too long. He does his research, and then makes the purchase. So, he bought his bike (and helmet - safety first!) last week. I plan on doing some shopping for one this weekend. I'm hoping I can find a bright pink bike with rhinestones, but when I Google those words, the only bikes that come up are youth- or toddler-sized. (This should tell me something about myself, but alas, it does not.)

Anyway, I also did some Internet searching for a helmet fit for a princess, and found the one in the attached photo, which comes with matching knee pads (also in youth size, mind you). Now, those who know me well, or have witnessed me walk more than 50 feet, know that I'm a tad bit (read: REALLY) clumsy. So, I definitely feel that knee, elbow, shin, and face pads would be in my best interest. I hadn't considered them before all the Googling, but now I feel that I should take my search results as a sign. "Protect all parts, Princess!"

I'll let you know how the bike shopping goes. I figure...if I get a bike, and start riding it A LOT, I can keep eating all the Nutella I want, sans guilt. Yum! I love positive reinforcement.

You know... since your little, a girls bike might work for you : ^ )

Here's a helmet with pink: http://www.rei.com/product/747019 and you could glue on some rinestones.
