This post is called "Catching Up" for two reasons. First, it means I'm finally posting a blog after more than a week of neglecting my (two or three) readers. Second, it means I've gotten to spend quality time with some great friends - Emily T., Kristin W., Jen W., Erin B., and Jen S.
Last week, I worked each day, and thought about going to the gym each night. (I never actually made it, but isn't it the thought that counts?) On Tuesday, I had dinner with my beautiful friend, Emily T., which was great fun. We hadn't chatted in person in several months, so it was nice catching up over some yummy Thai food.

Here's a pretty picture of Ms. Em. We go back to 1996, when I started working at the VT Alumni Fund Phonathon. (Oh, the memories!)
In addition to the aforementioned activities, I attempted to finish my book before tonight's book club meeting ("Beautiful Boy: A Father's Journey Through His Son's Addiction" by David Sheff), while continuing to practice my Princess Cyndi-approved forehead-wrinkle-reducing exercises. (I'm increasingly more worried about these wrinkles; which is really kind of ironic, since the more I worry about the wrinkles, the more wrinkles I will get. )
On Friday night, Andy and I made quick run through Macy's and then grabbed dinner at our favorite local Mexican restaurant. Saturday brought some much-needed excitement. I had a lovely time at Jen W.'s bridal shower, and then rushed home to put on my bathing suit so Andy and I could attend Madelyn's (fourth) 2nd birthday party. (It was at one of our neighborhood pools. I don't make it a habit to wear my bathing suit to birthday parties.)

Here's a cute picture of Jen, my college roommate and friend since 1996.
Let's see...what happened on Sunday? Ah, yes. Andy played golf with some work friends, and I - get ready for this - did not get out of my pajamas until 6:00 p.m. I only showered and dressed myself in order to accompany my sweet husband to the movies. We saw "The Incredible Hulk" (good movie), and I made myself slightly ill eating too much popcorn on an empty stomach. (Will I ever learn my lesson?)
On Tuesday night, we went to see Reverend Al Green at Wolftrap with Kristin and Shawn W., plus a few other friends. That man (Al, not Shawn) can still "lay it down." The weather was perfect, but the company was even more perfect. (Thanks to K and S for getting the tickets and inviting us to come!)

Here's a sweet picture of Shawn and Kristin with their daughter, Lauren.
Yesterday, I was able to catch up with two friends. I had lunch with Erin B. and her precious baby girl, Riley. We enjoyed great conversation with our mediocre TGIFriday's food.
I really do admire the way Erin is balancing motherhood with having a social life. She and her hubby, Joe, seem to have worked out a good system, where each gets to have his/her night to "cut loose" (read: drink a beer or two) and/or hang out with his/her guy/girl friends. Erin seems to really enjoy being a mother, and I'm happy she has gotten to spend so much time at home with Riley before heading back to work as a 6th grade teacher in late August. I hope she enjoys her afternoon naps until then!

This is me and Riley. See, I told you Riley is precious. She wasn't really into me holding her at that moment, or looking at the camera, but I don't take "no" for an answer. When I want a picture, you might as well give in and go with it.
I saw my dear friend, Jen S. lat night. We go way back to 1998. She lives in Charleston, S.C., now, but is in NoVa this week for work. Seeing her is almost bittersweet. We always have a great time when we're together, but I'm also reminded of how much I miss having her live close. We have lots of shared memories - funny and not so funny. Basically, she's included on "Princess Cyndi's Most Favorite People" list.

Here's a picture of Jen and I, taken last night. Jen looks pretty (as usual), but what is up with my forced smile? (And those forehead wrinkles...yuck!)
Now, you're all caught up. And, don't you feel better?
I'll try to be better about updating this site. I know my (two or three) readers have been missing me. And, it's just not right to disappoint.
